Sometimes I wish I could have lived in the 60’s and 70’s – the Golden Age of the Muscle Car and the California Hot Rodder. This era produced legends like Carrol Shelby and Mickey Thompson. These guys built world class race cars, businesses and even their own racing series with street smarts and practical experience. It’s something that could never happen this day in age. Nobody believes in the concept of the self-taught engineer anymore. That wasn’t true back then. Watch this video to see what I’m talking about. It’s the history of Mickey Thompson as told by his son Danny. He was a radical innovator, both technically and financially, in several forms of racing.
