RAUH-Welt Begriff

The RAUH-Welt Begriff story is a pretty amazing one. The organization started off as a street racing team in Japan which then turned into a tuning shop whose work became a worldwide sensation a couple of years ago. Lucky for us, they also caught the attention of a talented videographer named Luke Huxham of Maiham-Media. I’ll let him tell you the RWB story.

Meet the heart and soul behind RWB style, Akira Nakai.

This follow up on Nakai-san is pretty interesting because it was after his work had gotten recognition from car enthusiasts around the world. Here he talks about what he thinks of his success and his future. The video is called “Night Session” becomes Nakai-san routinely starts his day after noon and works until 4am in the morning. He says he enjoys the quietness of the world in the early hours of the morning.

Here is footage of Nakai-san working on expanding RWB to Thailand. The narrator is the Thai investor who speaks of his experiences meeting Nakai-san and watching him work. They developed a unique style for RWB cars in Thailand because the streets of Bangkok are a lot more rough than in Japan.

This next video is an interesting addendum to the scene where Nakai-san is obsessing over wheel spacers. RWB cars are known for their extremely low but still functional stance. Nakai-san obsesses over wheel spacers to achieve what people are calling a magical fender that doesn’t rub. This video of the Rough Rhythm car is proof:

Maiham-Media also shot this video of one of RAUH-Welt Begriff’s customers, Shinji-san. He talks about how he got into Porsches and how he met Nakai-san. It’s pretty cool to see how happy his car makes him. Shinji says “I will drive a RWB Porsche until I die.”

The last video about RWB that I’ll post is a documentary about Idlers Games. Idlers Games is a grassroots motorsports event that happens 3 times a year where people get to race their cars on Tsukuba Circuit. You’ll notice that all of the RWB cars have the Idlers logo painted on their tires because most of the RWB crew take racing at Idlers Games very seriously.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this little trip in the world of RAUH-Welt Begriff. Nakai-san is one of my personal inspirations. I hope I can one day open an awesome hole in the wall shop like that and just build whatever I want and make a living with it. I don’t think I’ll smoke that many cigarettes but who knows, that might be one of the requirements to make it work.
