French rider Thomas Pages debuted his signature trick, the Special Flip at the Red Bull X-Fighers round in Madrid. He’s been perfecting for the last few years.
This is highlights from the Madrid round of the 2012 Red Bull X-Fighters. I admittedly don’t follow this series very closely, but it seems the guys have developed a lot of new tricks that I’ve never seen before.
Red Bull created the largest freestyle motocross course ever built for the second stop of the 2012 X-Fighters championship at Glen Helen. The course was cut into the side of giant hills next to the raceway.
The circuit of Terramar is the second oldest track in Europe and the first auto track in Spain. It’s a high bank oval that hosted Formula 1 races in its prime. Red Bull took former WRC Champion and Dakar Rally winner, Carlos Sainz and current DTM driver Miguel Molina to their home country to set a new record at Terramar in the Audi R8 LMS. You would think smashing an old record around the high banked oval would be easy thanks to the 500 hp from the 5.2 liter V10 (same engine as the Lamborghini Gallardo), but it’s not that simple. The track is old and hasn’t seen use in a long time. There are lots of potholes and crumbled concrete for the guys to avoid. You can see the R8’s getting airborne several times in the video.
